Pros

The pay is great! There aren't a lot of employers out there in this market that are willing to pay this much for little to no experience. Icon pays for meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) The mission statement is very noble. Anyone can get behind it.

Cons

Icon tends to hire and promote Project/Construction Managers that overpromise and under deliver. Instead of taking care of simple things on their current project like subs and rentals, they're planning on the next project that's a year out. This causes the current project to suffer immensely. The hours can be extremely long. Anyone that has worked for other construction companies knows that the rain and cold can sometimes make it unsafe to work. I don't expect a handout for days I don't work, but Icon could easily implement a "compensatory pay" program to cover hourly print operators for the rainy season or unforseen circumstances that are out of anyones hands. It's been brought up to upper management but to my knowledge was immediately shot down. The company doesn't mind paying hundreds of thousands of dollars a month in equipment rentals because they don't want to wait on permits from the city but draws the line when it comes to ensuring the hourly employees at least have a chance of making a full paycheck. doesn't seem right to me. its no wonder that some of the other employees are using the dreaded "U" word. Icon has yearly layoffs to ensure the company's future (as do most companies) but speak out against upper management and you'll no doubt find yourself on that list. Over the last year, there seems to be some segregation with the company. Handfuls of employees are selected to partake in an illuminati-like "retreat" These employees are the "select few" that will be safe from the next round of layoffs. It's supposed to be a secret, but everyone knows about it. They hold these meetings then wonder why morale is so low in Print Operations. Having "unlimited PTO" but never getting use it is aggravating. The nepotism is insane when some operators are allowed 200+ hours of pto and others can't even get 40. speaking of nepotism, if you're not one of the boot lickers, then you can forget about any kind of promotion, special projects, or anything else that might elevate you regardless how hard you work or experienced you are.

Pros

The pay is fair and employees get free meals. It’s not a bad company, but I wouldn’t make it my forever home.

Cons

The work environment is toxic and the priority is productivity over all else no matter the cost. The need to chase unattainable deadlines lead to overworked employees who feel unappreciated and unfulfilled. The company’s way of showing appreciation is by passing out stickers and free beer. We’re told we can’t afford administrative pay for days we can’t work due to safety and weather, yet we’re watching as they are continuing to create six figure salary positions. The top three supervisors for print/construction operations do not care about the staff or the company. They’re only there to protect their salaries. When criticizing the VP of construction operations’ openly rather than taking in criticism, he threatened to figure out how to eliminate the use of Slack. When we voiced concerns about not making our minimum hours in the rainy weeks or winter months we were told to find a second job. He insists on bringing criticism to him directly as an intimidating tactic. Those above him show up randomly and it’s clear they have no idea what’s actually happening at any given moment. There’s a strange obsession with E.Musk … If Icon were a human they would have sever ADHD and a mood disorder.
