Pros

Absolutely nothing. I cried many times because I felt so bad for the students. I only chose one star as an overall rating because I had to pick something. IDEA does not deserve one star. I feel for the teachers as well.

Cons

Once you're at IDEA it feels like a prison sentence, as if you've been put into jail. The first time I walked through the halls I felt there was something wrong. It was too sterile. There's no creativity at all happening at IDEA. I feel horrible for the elementary students because they don't get the arts at all. No library, no art, music, or theater classes at all. Kindergarten students are only given one 20 minute recess at almost 1 pm. I am shocked that these schools still remain open with all the yelling the teachers do and stress that is put on the children. Candy bribes to do a good job? IDEA schools feel more like a factory than an education. I believe IDEA is not helping to make a better world. IDEA is taking the joy out of learning for these children. It's not the children's fault. WE have to remember this. If we want a better world than we have to make schools a better place to learn. In this day and time I find this so disappointing to see a Charter school that is so out of touch with what truly needs to be happening. Something went wrong when IDEA schools opened. They should be closed.

Pros

Decent pay. Teacher coaching is valuable. High Standards for teachers and students.

Cons

IDEA values test results and money over the teachers and students. The CEO is a self-absorbed millionaire and none of the teachers respect him.

Pros

Pay and benefits. Opportunity to really be a part of a wonderful "idea" and concept if you are truely passionate.

Cons

Some staff members we're rudr and disrespectful towards parents, even making snide remarks out if earshot. No training on required software. No organized list of expectations or due dates. Expected to work from home and extended hours; work during op hours was continually interrupted by irrelevant team 'huddles' that were a waste of time and could have been communicated by email to discuss what you needed to complete. They expect every staff member to monitor recess and lunch, even if you have to process grades/attendance/et al. For 500+ students by 4pm. Walked into this with an 'office' full of arbitrary stacks of paperwork and junk that collected. No one maintained the files or data while position was vacant, simply did bare minimum, leading to failed audits for which I was blamed despite the fact the missing paperwork was never filed before I began. No real communication between staff members completing same or similar tasks (ex: calling parent whose child was absent, parent explained they already had notified school child will not return until XX/XX date due to death in family. Caller was rude. didnt not make note of the excused abscence to prevent further calls. Parent called again next day for child abscence ny different staff member and was furious no one listened to her. Caller was curt and annoyed, when the parent had a valid point; continued to make snide remarks after hanging up). Staff continually wasted time surfing the net on their company provided phones when other tasks could have been completed. Younger staff members acted entitled to their job and lacked the real passion, attention to detail and drive to be successful and acted perturbed to help with those such as the sis/registrar who inevitably became the workhorse- doing all the work, taking all the blame, for the promise of 'good benefits' in a so-called 'team environment' when unprofessional staff act more like spoiled children than true educators. They only care about attendance so they can continually receive grant funding to operate. Lots of wasted time and money that could go back into the classroom. The 'idea' is great, be the execution at this particular campus was abhorrent and a sham. No wonder the attendance and enrollment plummeted.
