Pros

I made 2 coworker friends, whom I actually trusted .

Cons

Where do I begin!!!!???? First of all the administration was incompetent. Some of these people didn't even speak English correctly! Teacher workload was overwhelming and it seemed that as soon as you were caught up with something, the administration wanted you to do something else on top of everything you were already doing. My days were literally 7 am to 6:30 or even 7:00 pm. Ridiculous! And I even took work home sometimes. Oh and they expect you to stay for tutorials afterschool! Please dont apply. Its terrible.

Pros

Making friends and working with children from all ages. Only other good thing about these schools is the type of content instruction they have placed.

Cons

It looks like the company doesn't know how to manage. They give preference to Teach For America people. They try to make you feel that the outside districts are worthless. The school has the same type of children as the regular schools. Also, they don't like to ruin their reputation (been incidents-tons of them). They treat children like at war soldiers (every little thing they have to do perfect which realistically we are not ALL perfect). It is performance-based, they can fire you whenever they want. All schools are run differently. They yell at the kids constantly. Very demanding. High-Stress. Principals are double-faces with employees. Teachers do the same amount of work as co-teachers. Co-teacher just get paid less. They want to put substitutes responsibilities beyond what they are not trained for. They even pay substitutes less than outside districts. Trust me, you will feel way better working at a District outside of this one!!

Uninformed Factory

Pros

Very driven colleagues, hired for idealism and workaholism

Cons

Developmentally inappropriate expectations for students, very controlling environment for children and staff. IDEA prescribes what and how you must teach and run your classroom, but holds you accountable for results of their prescribed techniques. Techniques promoted are not in line with best educational practice. IDEA will bend the data however they can to win awards (for example, force all students to apply to a 100% acceptance school so they can say they have 100% college acceptance, force all kids to take AP tests in order to be weighted high in that category on the "best schools" rating, etc.) The hubris of this organization is evident in them buying a private jet with funds meant for student education. This is the educational equivalent of a mega-church cult.
