Pros

I cannot think of a pro for me, nor any I pro I heard mentioned from someone else who has worked there.

Cons

Accepting a position at IDEA was a huge career mistake. The organization is extremely disorganized and understaffed. The culture is very production and goal focused, however, much of the administration and leadership lack in pedagogical training and know-how and display weak leadership qualities. Overall, the experience was stressful and confusing. There was little to no support and because of the dismal culture, the turnover is huge, so those willing to support know about as much as anyone just walking in the door.

Pros

I do not see any pro's in this place.

Cons

I can only say that staff here is unhappy and cannot wait to leave, I am one of them. Several teachers cry because of the pressure and work 16 hours a day!! Admin keeps putting more and more on the teachers and do not care about them or if they are over whelmed. The kids are numbers and are treated like that.

Pros

-No teacher certification needed -Always hiring -They give cool gifts *P.S. many of the good reviews for IDEA are obviously written by administration and principles. *

Cons

-Changed the subject I taught 3 days before school started -Forced me to curve grades to make IDEA look better on paper *I think this issue will land them in legal trouble, as I know at least a dozen teachers whom IDEA administration forced to curve grades. - I had to buy my own books and supplies -No Critical Thinking: Forced to only teach how to do well on tests. - I was promised $48K at interview, only $43K on the actual contract I signed. -Principal scolded me in front of my students and was often wrong (he didn't understand my subject) - HUGE teacher turnover: 5 teachers quit this year and the year is not over -Poor performing students forced to the front, no real say in seating chart. -I had about 10 bosses telling me conflicting things (boss 1: elaborate on this, boss 2: don't even cover that, etc) -15 minute lunch breaks -75 hour work week -Tons of new administration, showing their power but having no idea what the campus is about
