Great company, but..

Pros

Benefits are really good. Work-Life balance is a priority. Great and recognizable brand name, and therefore one can expect to have some pride from the job. In general, the life is different in the mother ship (for the better) when compared to the remote offices. Seems like the original company (Six Continents) has lost its edge after InterContinental bought the chain. All in all, if you are not very ambitious and tend not take pride (only from) the job you have this is a good organization to be employed in. Nothing more can be said about this job (or nothing less).

Cons

The organization does not feel 'homogeneous' in culture.

Pros

Some of the the best reasons to work for InterContinental Hotels are career opportunities - we are a global company with numerous departments and located in various countries. Senior management is very personable and passionate about their work. Knowledge experts in eCommerce and often times leading the travel/hotel marketing industry in the online space. Upper management are good at recognizing you for a job well done and providing feedback and guidance.

Cons

Some of the downsides of working at InterContinental Hotels is flex time depends on manager, it is not consistent within the company or within the same department. Some managers within the same department are more flexible and trusting of their direct reports. Others that have left the company felt that managers are all about work, work, work and the bottom line. At times I would agree with this. With any job, there are ups and downs. I think it all boils down to the working relationship with the employee and their direct manager.

Pros

Competitive salary, flexible work schedule and ability to work from home. They throw extravagant annual conferences.

Cons

The rules of the IHG game is to cover your own ass, push your work off on other people and take credit where credit isn't due. You can't walk around without bumping into someone's own personal agenda. If you're not friends with the right people, your career growth is stunted.
