Pros

Good place to start off your sales career. Decent training, lots of exposure. Mostly outdoor sales, lost of client interaction. Very little down time. Makes the day move.

Cons

Wow...where to begin. Leadership from the sales manager on up are just recycled sales reps that did an adequate job when they were a sales rep 10, 15 even 20 years ago. This business has been extremely reduced in terms or need and cost. We are selling outdated services, in a time when technology is changing more rapidly than the company can get it's hands around. When getting projects approved, it like pulling teeth when the cost isn't what they would have sold the same item for 5 years ago. Very intense micro management style. Documenting all...let me say that again...ALL of your daily activities. From when you get in the morning till when you leave in the afternoon, you must meet with your manager 2x a day to discuss your day and what's on the bill for tomorrow. Very suffocating atmosphere.

Excellent resources, complicated systems

Pros

IKON is a company where results are rewarded and resources are plentiful. They are highly competitive and offer excellent benefits. The culture is supportive and there are constant learning opportunities. The name is well known and respected in the industry. Although the company makes a lot of mistakes, they always do the right thing for the customer eventually.

Cons

Systems are incredibly complex. Sales paperwork and approval processes were clearly designed by lawyers and accountants and often require repeat visits to the customer for revision. The company is constantly trying to decide whether solutions or boxes are more important. Sales income has decreased over the last few years. I would recommend this as a company to sell for but would think long and hard before going into management.

Pros

Allows employees to work independently, excellent benefits, regonition of a job well done.

Cons

No room for minorities to promote within the organization. After speaking with many long time employees, they have been in the same position for many years with no encouragement to move to upper management.
