Pros

It's good money if you don't have marketable skills or education. You can use this to launch into another federal job.

Cons

The culture is extremely negative, the way employees are treated is inhumane. There is no time to catch your breath or take a sip of water between calls. If you have to use the restroom you will be timed to the second. Managers have no time to help employees develop or improve. It's an immense, top heavy, inefficient bureaucracy. Good ideas are forbidden. Promotions are given to clique buddies to unqualified people

Pros

There were only a few personnel who had the best interest of the trainees in mind and tried to help as much as possible despite their own workload.

Cons

This only pertains to the Vienna, Va site. Low morale. Poor leadership. High turnover. Lack of support for employees. Supervisor is cold, mean, unapproachable, has no interest in bettering her employees. She keeps her door closed and only comes out of her office to berate people. She sets people up for failure and has her favorites. Her reputation is well-known within the IRS. Her goal is to advance at the expense of her employees. By the first quarter, half of the dozen new trainees were looking for jobs because they were miserable working for her. Some of her direct reports who provided us training had no interest in providing actual training because they were forced into it, so it left many without the resource needed to ask questions, seek guidance, and have the tools necessary to be successful.

Pros

Job Security, Pension Benefits, Med Insurance Benefits, Excellent Pay

Cons

Horrible work conditions, incompetent and overbearing management who were promoted based upon their willing to move instead of their competence, employees consistently put under undue pressure to meet arbitrary and unreasonable deadlines to allow management to meet their rating goals from HQ, management is more concerned with employee discipline than actual production of employees, including giving employees time off without pay for having their G issued GPS stolen from their G vehicles due to no fault of their own, etc. etc. etc .
