Pros

Short commute Daily free lunches and dinner if you work late Some individually super talented people

Cons

-Culture is terrible. Some E-staff..."When we want your opinion we will ask you for it" -Known E-staff who lead by intimidation and fear. -CEO who is clearly out his depth..little leadership skills, ability to scale, and complete lack of knowledge on what drives a good company culture and value system. (yeah look at some of your hires pal)

Pros

* Disruptive solution that solves real security challenges for enterprise customers. * An Impressive list of paying customers that are deploying the solution in production. * Strong customer focus - customer feedback has been part of what gets built from inception to this day. * Enough money in the bank so everyone can focus on building a successful company and not worry about money. * Very strong team both inside and outside the building and from top to bottom. Extremely talented and capable people who are extremely passionate about what they do. * Work hard and play hard culture - people work really hard and have a lot of fun at the same time * Everything is built (product, marketing, support, ops, documentation, sales, finance) with the assumption that we will be a large and successful company. There are no short cuts taken.

Cons

* It's a demanding environment. May not be a right fit for the faint of heart. * A lot of good food, snacks, and drinks can put pressure on your physical well being. But, there is free gym membership and an on-site yoga class to help you out.

Questionable Leadership, High Turnover, and Lack of Direction – Stay Away

Business Outlook

Pros

Some genuinely smart and talented people who try to make things work. Flexibility in work hours, and remote options available for some teams.

Cons

Terrible leadership: The company’s leadership is completely out of touch. The C-suite is either overwhelmed or disengaged, and decision-making feels directionless at best. The most glaring example is the CMO, who lasted only a few months before leaving, which says a lot about the stability (or lack thereof) at the top. High turnover: The sales department is a revolving door – people come and go constantly, at all levels. This creates a toxic environment where no one feels safe or secure in their job. Many of the salespeople leave because there’s no clear path to success or support from leadership. Team dysfunction: Engineering teams are constantly at odds with each other. Disagreements are frequent, and there’s no effort from leadership to resolve conflicts. This only worsens team morale and productivity. Lack of accountability: Complaints and feedback from employees rarely get addressed in a meaningful way. Instead, management uses buzzwords like "investing in training" as a smokescreen to distract from the underlying issues. It's all talk and no action, and any positive changes are only temporary. No clear future: The company has no real direction or strategy to go public. It’s been hinted that they might IPO, but the lack of stability, constant restructuring, and lack of clear leadership make it painfully obvious that it's not going to happen anytime soon. Cultural decline: The company’s culture has changed dramatically over the past year. The "champions of culture" who once led the charge to build a positive, collaborative, and supportive environment have mysteriously disappeared, leaving a vacuum where a once-great culture used to be. Now, the culture is draining — it’s toxic, fragmented, and filled with burnout. It feels like everyone is just trying to get by rather than working toward a shared vision.

Hi there and thanks for sharing your feelings on the time you spent at Illumio. While I'm not sure how long it's been you moved on from the company (our prior CMO was here for over 3 years, and our new CMO just started this month), a number of the concerns you mentioned are areas where we've been focusing over the past year+. Overall, in our most recent employee engagement survey, we had a 92% response rate, with our year-on-year engagement scores improving by 300 basis points, and our overall engagement meaningfully outpacing the peer benchmark scores. In the past year, we've introduced a goal setting process, a performance feedback and conversation process, and a new company-wide learning management system (LMS). While our points of view may differ, from the feedback we've gotten - and my own perspective - the company's culture and future have never been brighter or stronger in our 12-year history. Thanks again for your time serving Illumio, and wishing you all the best in your onward journey! David Chief People Officer
