Solid company to grow at

Pros

I've been with the company a little over a year, and this is the first pre-IPO company that I feel like I've been part of where I am both recognized for what I bring to the table, and where I can grow myself. My direct manager respects my opinion in our work and lets me work how and where works for me to get my job done.

Cons

The pace of the work can be fast, but that's part of the department I'm in and the job that I do. Fortunately, I feel like the rest of the team around me works at the same pace, as do other teams across the company.

Thanks for taking time to share your experience so far here at Illumio - I'm glad to hear that it's going well, and you're finding the culture to be supportive of your continued career growth. I agree that the pace of work is quick, so we're working to continue to focus on prioritization to ensure everyone's work is focused on the most important things first. Thanks for your feedback on the communication from our leaders. As you heard in this week's All Hands meeting, we're continuing to focus on people leader development this year as we support our managers to continue and further our transparent approach to sharing information across the company. Thanks again for sharing your feedback, and keep it coming! Thanks, David Chief People Officer

Pros

Illumio has a well defined process for onboarding new hires with regular checkpoints, manager and peer meetings for knowledge transfer and facilitate onboarding. There is a system with a training track for onboarding CSAs which is rich in content and extensive to cover most of what I believe I will need to be successful in the CSA role. There is a system for technical trainings at all levels, on demand, instructor led, easy to sign up and start right away, with questions and certification. There is a process for role shadowing for a while, in which everyone is collaborative in adding me to their sessions and offer help as required, without the feeling that I might be disturbing them. - The corporate new hire process (benefits, accesses, etc) is extremely organized, I had all access I needed beforehand, got my laptop shipped to home before I started working, easy to configure and having support when I requested.

Cons

This role is fully remote from home, working with customers sometimes, but for those that love to go to the office and be face-to-face most of the time, it might be a challenge if that's what you would expect, unless you work in Sunnyvale, CA office (USA employees), than you got to be frequently in the office.

Hi there and thanks for sharing your perspective as a newer Illumineer - like all of your CSA colleagues, we're glad you're here, as the role you all are in is critical to our customers' ability to succeed with our platform and solutions. I'm so glad to hear that the onboarding and new hire experience was smooth and value-add for you. The team have been working hard across all departments to help new colleagues feel like a local quickly. While we have a good balance of folks across the company who work fully remotely, or who are in a hybrid role (some days at home, and some days in the office each week), we enjoyed bringing the whole company together in person this past spring for the company kickoff, and we'll look forward to continuing to do similarly where and when possible going forward. That said, please keep the feedback coming as we work to ensure all of people feel welcomed and included on the journey we're on together. Thanks! David Chief People Officer

Pros

I enjoyed working from home and clocking into work. I would occasionally go into the office to enjoy the catered food, meet some coworkers in person, and mingle during the loneliness of wfh in general. They gave good benefits med / dental / vision - was happy with those. Company outings were really fun and had good vibes from the CEO / managers I had.

Cons

As soon as I joined several people left. They were the people I wanted to work with. As soon as new leadership came in they started firing people, changing processes, making targets unrealistic, and pitting teams against each other. To this day, I don't think the new managers who were hired have any idea what ZTS is, how it works with the vens, or the type of architecture it uses that makes it unique relative to market offerings. Chaulk it up to lower quality managers, and the rumors about the CEO are true, which is unfortunate.

Hello and thanks for sharing your feedback on your time here at Illumio. I'm glad to hear that your time with us worked overall well for you in terms of work/life balance and the office experience when you came in to work from HQ. I'm glad to hear you liked the company events (which we've resumed now post-COVID) and your experience with Andrew and the leaders was a good one as you've described it. In terms of the drawbacks you shared in your experience, it sounds like there were some colleagues who enjoyed working with left the organization, which can be a hard thing to go through, especially given the priority that our Illumineers tell us they place on the value of good and trusted colleagues here at the company. Thanks for sharing your advice as well - since you've left, this past year we've built out our MM team and our platform which drives value for customers across the marketplace, especially with CloudSecure. And as we've been building for the external market, our People team have built out a job architecture and are building career paths so that each Illumineer has a clear sense of how they are able to grow in their career here as we scale the company together in the quarters and years to come. Thanks again for sharing your feedback, and we wish you all the best going forward in your career! David Chief People Officer
