Pros

Work next to the Scottsdale Greenbelt, generous PTO (not so generous on rest of benefits)

Cons

Kiewit-Driven leadership, none of which have any software company experience. Narcissism-laced leaders who think they walk on water because they're from Kiewit. The all-male executive team walks around thinking they're all knowing and are spinning stories all over the place to make it appear as if their SaaS products are a hit, meanwhile competitors such as Oracle and SAP are the 500 lb gorillas in the industry who make InEight's chances of success less than that of winning the Powerball. No amount of marketing spin can hide the truth that their software offerings are not ubiquitous enough to have a chance.

Pros

The company had a great idea for project management software

Cons

But they were unable to successfully migrate their software to the cloud. Their software doesn't have any value adds that differentiates them from their competition. They started a couple of Proof-Of-Concept projects on differentiating ideas that could be added to the existing software, but management decided against adding the functionality. The senior management is stuck in an old-style model and is unable to innovate. Because of the lack of innovation, they have been unable to sell any new software. Without income, they will not be around much longer.

Hey folks, this is how the software business works

Pros

This review is in response to the recent negative ones and is an attempt to give a bit more perspective. Newsflash...all small, fun software companies eventually either die or get acquired. Hard Dollar held its own for a very long time and did very well, thanks to great people. BUT, that story is over. With acquisition comes change/politics/shift in culture. That is just the way it is. The "old guard" did not want to change, did not want to play the political games etc.... and so there was a RIF. And now there is hiring to bring in people who are not holding on to the 'good old days" and are focused on moving forward and are GRATEFUL to be at a software company that treats people far better than many larger companies in the valley... people who appreciate good work/life balance, 4 weeks vacation time, approachable/friendly people, free lunch on Fridays, a nice modern office, underground parking (for a small deduction), and a CEO who may not be perfect but respects worker bees enough to greet them by name and recognize their contributions. You have to gain the trust of Kiewit even if you don't like their methods and then then will back off and let InEight run independently. If Kiewit wanted them to be an extension IT department, why would they care about InEight branding, the new office, etc?

Cons

To be fair, there are definitely good people who've had to weather many storms the last several years and some of the management put in place by the parent company just doesn't get it/can't make the paradigm shift away from large company IT applications development. This can be very challenging. Can't really blame people who've been dealing with this for several years for deciding they've had enough.
