Pros

InVision has quite a story. I highly recommend finding “the rise and fall of InVision” article as it is very much still relevant to how things are today. There are some very fantastic human beings who still work there, though their efforts are hampered quite a bit by constant change in strategy, lack of customer engagement, among other factors. InVision was remote first before many companies had to think of their remote strategies. As such, there are some excellent remote culture perks, though they are starting to fall behind sadly. Product is still exciting, opportunity to collaborate cross functionally as well.

Cons

Constant change of direction, a lot of the ideas that are pushed don’t arch on. Competitors such as figma capitalized by developing features InVision didn’t, even though users begged for them. With change in direction geared towards freehand, same thing happened with new competitors such as Miro and Mural. The direction that is chosen does not focus on customer first, thus features that are developed are not what customers are asking for. Brain drain is a huge issue at InVision. A lot of people leave due to senior leadership as well as other factors that are not really looked into. Issue is masked by new hires who are genuinely excited and it takes awhile for them to see how things are behind the curtain. More on mass exodus, success and sales saw almost a departure a day at times. Support saw majority of the team leave due to disconnected senior leadership that did not listen and belittled the team. When Glassdoor rating dropped, employees were asked to leave good reviews. I wouldn’t trust ratings too much. Huge amount of tech debt. There’s always work to try to address it, but it’s still huge. Way higher than more successful competitors. Compensation is decent, but very much lacks behind competitors.
