Poor leadership at this company

Pros

You work with good people who care about creating a quality product and there is a lot of flexibility. Pay is ok, but get as much as possible starting off because raises are pretty weak.

Cons

Very low morale in Birmingham office with many people leaving or getting cut. CEO response was 'we can recruit in Atlanta and Madison' He cares nothing about the Birmingham employees. Pretty low character move. Nothing to address the morale issues, just basically saying IH doesn't need Bham. Maybe he's right, but that shows you the type of leader he is, and ultimately a leader that doesn't care about his employees is a failure.

As a Birmingham employee myself, I am clearly invested in the future of this office and what it "feels" like to work here on a daily basis. As this review points out, we work with some talented people focused on creating quality products that can actually make healthcare better for everyday people. This, on top of a very flexible work schedule with unlimited time off, paid sabbaticals, flexible work from home schedules, etc., means there's a lot to be positive about. As for Rupen's commitment to Birmingham, I didn't interpret his comment to mean, "Birmingham doesn't matter," because I work with him on a regular basis and I know that isn't his perspective. What he was attempting to do was reassure all of us that when we face recruiting challenges in one city, we are still in a good position to recruit top talent because we can do so from another major city. This is actually a significant competitive advantage for a company our size and we should all be happy about that. Having options is always a good thing. With the significant investment being made in remodeling our office, we are about to add a very modern and engaging workspace to our list of recruiting advantages in Birmingham. Hopefully, everyone here will get fired up about this and help on the recruiting front by sharing more of the many positives about life at Influence Health.

Sinking Ship Selling to Highest Bidder...Not Worth a Dime

Pros

They pay high salaries to entice you to work for them...believe me I fell for it.

Cons

They promote people who “seem,” to know what they’re doing, but are actually inept in everything but barking orders that contradict their last order as well as stiring up trouble. Back stabbing is considered a skill, and management makes sure to practice this skill regularly. Heaven help you if you fall for any kind words from management as you’ll soon be thrown under the bus if an executive tells said management the work is inadequate.

While there can always be some exceptions, we hold both our leaders and associates accountable to behaving in accordance with these values and truly regret to hear you felt disrespected in any way.

Pros

Startup environment, Flexible schedule, unlimited leave, friendly peers

Cons

Pay was disappointing, management was deceptive, next to no upward mobility, unrealistic expectations communicated by the sales team to new clients, not compensated monetarily for getting existing clients to add additional services - sales team got the commission even if they were in no way part of the selling process for a specific service.

We are especially disappointed to hear you felt management was deceptive, as we pride ourselves on being honest and transparent with our employees, within the reasonable boundaries of others' privacy and safety. While there are some cons to having a geographically dispersed workforce, overall we believe it adds to the fabric of our culture and provides a unique advantage in recruiting the most talented professionals in our business, regardless of the city they call home! For this reason, we have and continue to invest in new technology that makes it easier for our workers to collaborate and engage across locations. In addition, we are investing in a new learning management system that will make it much easier for employees to receive more regular and consistent training on all products throughout the company. We realize we have many challenges, like most start-up environments. We also believe the flexibility, perks, and opportunities we offer to do cutting edge, exciting and meaningful work with a great group of talented, passionate employees far outweigh any of the cons that we are continually working to improve.
