      Company doesn't walk the walk, possible age-related layoffs

      Pros

      Project teams were generally nice to work with. Pay was decent, remote work was great.

      Cons

      During last month's town hall, everyone was informed that Insight was hiring junior team members and building them up to cut costs, opening up the way for senior team members into leadership. They said they wouldn't start just mass lay offs like other tech companies because supposedly that's not their culture. Insight hired a ton of project coordinators alright, but the next month after, they fired a bunch of Project Managers and Sr. Project Managers -- many in their 50s and 60s. They also laid off several architects and Sr. Architects, hiring associate engineers instead. If I did not need their severance to hold me over to the next job, basically forcing me to sign their severance agreement, I would have hired a lawyer for age discrimination review. In addition, great way to be client-oriented by laying them off before they get a chance to wrap things up -- nice way to air out all your dirty clothes.

      Good people, change is challenging

      Pros

      Many of the people I work with every day are genuine, empathetic, and passionate about their craft. There are opportunities to advance here.

      Cons

      Insight has big ambitions, and has been reimagining itself in recent years. While often logical, the constant change is tiring, and execution quality is lacking.

      Ehh, good for experience

      Pros

      Get to learn some advanced stuff if your boss is cool enough to let you. If you are starting out and trying to gain some experience it's a great place but it won't prepare you for the real world. Treat it as a stepping stone. cause getting a promotion is hard! even if you are qualified.

      Cons

      Hard to get a actually a decent raise unless your brown nosing them. I have been personally lied to by upper management saying they will give me a certain amount and never coming through on the promise.
