Pros

I got a paycheck. Occasional employee discounts

Cons

Low Margin/High Volume Sales mentality. Just a VAR - but the "V" is debatable.

Pros

There's always events, happy hours, contests, raffles for prizes going on! There's a bring your dog to work day once a quarter. The people at the company are great (for the most part) and very fun! The health center in the HQ is very convenient.

Cons

The pay structure is awful. There is no incentive to sell more than your quota for the first two years in sales. The 30k base and 15k quota bonus (if you hit every quota that year) is non negotiable when starting out and if you try to negotiate they give you a story about how the sky is the limit in sales. The sky is not the limit, Insights pay structure is. You only make 10% of any extra gross profit you make AFTER you hit quota. Doing the math you'd have to hit your quota for the quarter, and then also have a massive deal of 100k that you make 10k in gross profit (also unheard of in this industry) and then you'd make 10% of the 10k GP = $1k (before its taxed at 40%) to equal out to about $600 extra for that quarter as your miracle "the sky's the limit" bonus. Again, this would be just short of a miracle and almost never happens. If you decide to move to another position in the company because sales isn't for you or isn't paying worth a crap well neither will another position in the company. UNLESS you leave for 1 year and then come back and apply for a new position in the company. Insight's policy is if you move positions you are only able to get a 10% bump in your 30k base salary, so you're new position you'll be making 33k base salary instead. Although if you were to leave insight for 1 year and come back and apply to the exact same position you would be paid 65k+ for that same job. Its a company policy that does not make any sense, they discourage you to move up or around in the company and instead encourage you to leave the company all together to get paid fairly. There is no room for growth to management in the company unless you have a close relationship with someone in management making the decision. The company makes more than enough money to pay its workers from "it's adder" on sales, gross profit from sales, partners throwing money at them non-stop, the 8-10% they get back at the end of the year from revenue, etc. Insight will even take a portion of salaries that are paid for by partners. Insight always takes their cut and it's usually the biggest. Do you want to be compensated in smiles, happy hour drinks, and income taxable prizes? Then you should definitely work here!

Thank you for your feedback. We have gotten great feedback on our Sales Academy training, but certainly will take your feedback and see how we can incorporate it to make it an even more robust training. We are always reviewing our attrition numbers, and in many areas we have lower attrition rates than the industry standards, but certainly want to improve and ensure our great Sales teammates stay with Insight. We’d really like the opportunity to discuss your feedback further, so please email glassdoorfeedback@insight.com
