Pros

- Most of the teammates doing the "grunt work" are very experienced and true professionals. - The opportunity to work remote in a lot of positions is excellent.

Cons

Alot of the management positions are filled by people that used to work with or for the CIO Michael Guggemos. That equates to alot of dead weight in management, especially in middle management. Several departments have managers of managers that their positions were created seemingly to provide a former coworker or buddy a well paying job. It is like a scene from the movie Office Space. There are meetings about projects or issues with 20 people on the phone and only 3 to 5 people are people directly working on the specific item and 15 or so "managers" all expressing their ideas or directions. The public view and motto at Insight is its a family. The private view is that it's an extremely dysfunctional family. Managers routinely get rid of people they don't like and bring in buddies, without any fear of reprisal or negative responses due to the HR departments rubber stamping of everything managers do instead of protecting teammates from attacks or abuse. Benefits are well below what they should especially for such a large, publicly traded company. Prescription benefits are extremely bad with the high deductibles that must be met before the actual savings kicks in. I believe the current deductible is somewhete around $6000 for prescriptions alone. Urgent Care copays are $75. PCP copays are $50. Both of which are over double of anywhere I've ever worked.

We are very sorry that you have this opinion of Insight. We work rigorously on our hiring process to ensure we hire only teammates that contribute significantly to our success, and while some of our teammates formerly worked for members of our executive team, we believe those teammates are very valued contributors. As it relates to health care, over the past few years we have invested in wellness solutions for our teammates. This investment includes a competitive insurance plan, a Health Savings Account, an on-site health center in Arizona, one preferred network in Chicago, along with a variety of other wellness initiatives. In addition, in 2016, we drastically changed our prescription drug coverage to ensure our teammates aren’t required to hit a deductible for maintenance medications. Our current deductible is $1,500 for teammates, and $3,000 for families (not $6,000). In order to assist our teammates with that expense, we provide $500 (for teammates) and $1,000 (for families) in a health savings account. One of our focuses is to ensure our teammates have access to resources they need to keep themselves and their families healthy. We take all feedback seriously and I have provided your review to our HR team. We appreciate your time for writing a review.

Going downhill fast

Pros

Remote Decent work life balance (depending on client)

Cons

Everything that made this place great has been stripped over the past few years. They pay less than market rate and bill clients 3-4X what they pay employees. PTO was cut by 70% with no increase in pay. New PTO policy is less than industry standard. Constant silent layoffs without any communication. They're offshoring the company so they can pay employees even less. Zero support from managers when dealing with clients. They sell junior devs as senior to clients then have the senior devs put out the fires. They constantly put people on projects that don't know the tech stack. All consultants are now expected to also do sales. Overall this company is going downhill fast and they do not care about their employees.

We are sorry to hear that your experience at Insight wasn't as positive as you would have hoped for. It does sound like you value the ability to work remote and were able to have flexibility in your schedule. It's important to note that Insight has a very strong vacation policy, where new hires are given 3 weeks starting for PTO. If you would like to share more of your concerns, please send your feedback to glassdoorfeedback@insight.com.

Pros

There weren't many pros. I had a nice manager.

Cons

The entire culture of this company is toxic. They rely heavily on salespeople to sell their Software as a Service model to corporations, so they believe in letting their sales team run roughshod over any and everyone else at the company. Racism? Go for it. Sexism? Absolutely! Any employees who work directly with the sales team will be yelled at, demeaned, and have their time completely disrespected. This extends all the way from the lawyers on the legal team who are trying to protect the company itself from the horrible sales practices these salespeople feel completely liberated to engage in, to the financial team responsible for approving contracts worth millions of dollars, to managers, operations specialists, contracts specialists, etc. If you report any of this behavior, you will be given the run around at best-- “collect evidence and we will address the problem this time, we promise”-- or fired at worst. They are well aware of the problems in their corporate culture, and not only do they punish anyone who dares to stick around and try to improve things, they actively support the bad actors and legitimize their disgusting behavior.

We’re disappointed to hear that you feel this way. We have zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment or any of the other behavior that’s described in this review, and it doesn’t sound at all like the work environment that we’ve worked hard to create at Insight. In fact, we’re proud that our culture has been consistently recognized by organizations like Forbes, Fortune, Barron’s, Great Place to Work, Phoenix Business Journal and others, and expect that all our teammates live our values of Hunger, Heart and Harmony every day. We simply would not allow the type of behavior outlined here. Because of that, we’d welcome the opportunity to speak to you about your experiences and better understand your specific concerns. Please email glassdoorfeedback@insight.com if you’d like to set up time to discuss in more detail.
