Pros

Previously wrote a review that said we had a bad CEO. In 2020 Karen Peacock CEO and things are finally clicking. Company culture, targets, the whole damn thing is getting better. Everything that was good about Intercom is still here, now with a serious exec layer to lead us into the future. Manager training and DEI have come a long way, but still could be better—the difference is, top level leadership knows that now and is actively trying to improve.

Cons

Some decisions are made without awareness of the impact of those decisions. They're getting better at it, but it's still lead to some rocky quarters.

Pros

Leadership truly cares about employees and creates a fun and transparent culture while always looking for new ways to improve. Our CEO and whole C-Suite is pretty awesome....genuinely nice people and inspiring. Great product in a growing industry. My co-workers are people that I enjoy spending time with! Lots of good laughs and everyone is internally driven. Good work-life balance.

Cons

As with all start-ups in growth mode, there are changes that you may need to adapt quickly to. Sometimes you need to sprint to get things done, but hard work is recognized and rewarded.

Pros

All POVs are welcome People seem to listen They invest in marketing... including headcount, tools and content/ programs The new CEO seems like she has solid gold character, earnestly wanting to do the right thing. The product is solid!

Cons

*Quality, experience-driven POVs are drowned out with prolific low caliber opinions-- and management has genuine difficulty deciphering which is which *People who stick around are those that don't stick their necks out to make the work better. THOSE neck sticker-outers do up the game for a moment... before they mysteriously disappear. If you join, best to stay cool and collected in observation mode for as long as possible while contributing just enough/ at the minimal level of expected value for your role if you want to stick around. *For a startup, there are a surprisingly large number of "do-nothings" that clog the pipes, slowing things down and somehow, as long as they are not "making waves", not being held accountable (and stay on the payroll- for YEARS). *Churn, churn, churn- It's been tricky getting meaningful work done around here simply due to the effect of the constantly revolving door/ poor retention * Once you have been deemed out of step with the hyper passive, conflict-avoidant culture, you will not be around much longer, deemed "Not a fit!". And no, your manager will not work with you to tune your approach to a more Dublin-inspired tune over time... they opt instead for the culturally easier "catch and release" approach to talent rather than a culturally incongruent "catch, inculcate and ADAPT" approach (which would be urgently necessary for transforming into/ building a truly stellar marketing org).
