Pros
Working at Interfor has been one of the best career moves I have made. Although my base role was as a recruiter for our salaried operations, I have worked with almost every department in HR on projects and initiatives related (and sometimes not) to my role. As someone who has worked with a lot of recruitment processes and systems in the past, I can say that Interfor has some of the most progressive recruitment processes I have worked with. Even when things have been seemingly perfected, the team here is not one to rest with the status quo, they are always looking at the next trend or development in recruitment that we can implement or try. The management at Interfor seems to really care about engaging employees and keeping them excited and motivated about their job. During my Career Development Plan meetings, I've been asked every year what I'd like exposure to, and within weeks I've been set up with that team or put on a project related to that. Interfor is also a very family friendly place to work, I don't feel micro-managed and I am fully trusted to do my job, even if that means working from home to take care of a sick child. This level of autonomy I really value and found it very motivating. Finally, the people; I have been very lucky to be on teams that were not only filled with incredibly talented and intelligent individuals, but they were are also fun, warm and welcoming.
Cons
Due to the nature of salaried operations, you end up recruiting for a lot of the same roles over an over; there isn't a huge variety. This is offset by the opportunities I was given to test the waters in different regions. In my time at Interfor I was able to recruit in all 4 of our operating regions including for corporate roles. This help spice things up.
