Pros

You will have amazing coworkers and patients.

Cons

Staff is overworked and underappreciated. The hospital organization is continually asking for more and more hours of work. They are trying to resolve worker burnout by telling us to care for ourselves better, while at the same time asking us to pick up two extra shifts. During covid the need for nurses has increased, but the hospital has stopped contributing to 401k funds and has decided to no longer give a yearly bonus. They have instituted another means of bonuses, but it is unlikely that the return will be the same. I feel it is not safe for a nurse to have such high patient ratios. It puts our licenses at risk where we to make an error due to the fact that we simply are unable to be in every patient room. There are many physicians that still are reasonably critical of nursing staff and rude. It is an exhausting job to be a fronted on nearly every side when you're so overwhelmed trying to care for and keep patients alive.

Pros

Benefits are good, employee health services are outstanding.

Cons

Leadership retaliates against staff that come forward with issues such as major work place policies and patient care protocols. Will do anything to keep bad employees happy and avoid conflict or to sweep fraud, theft, dangerous behavior and hostile events under the rug. Will not fire staff that blatantly break company policies and healthcare procedures, safety and security protocols. Very broken management.

Pros

Depending on the unit you are on, the team you work with can be truly incredible. The company is very interested in hiring diversity.

Cons

Management, upper management, and administration are only interested in money. There is little regard for patient care or acuity, and nearly no regard for staff’s concerns. IHC used to be one of the greatest companies to work for in healthcare and now it is such a disappointment - decreasing PTO accrual, increasing costs of benefits, increasing mandatory overtime shifts, re-structuring the bonus program to reduce the amount they pay employees, pushing yearly raises out several months to reduce the amount they pay employees, no longer offering pension to new employees, and having pulled 401ks altogether for nearly a year in 2020. So many disappointing changes from this company.
