Pros

Used to be a great place to work.

Cons

Intermountain has gone downhill fast. It used to be one of the best places to work in Utah. With the CEO changing a few years ago, it has turned into an awful place to work. Only focused on the bottom line, "bench-marking" to make us as mediocre as other health systems, and squeezing every last dollar out of their employees. I have seen nothing but cuts to staff, including vital staff like nurses and social workers. Our corporate leaders continue to survey us and we have some of lowest employee engagement scores in the nation. And yet they do nothing to remedy this. We used to have an amazing culture and satisfied caregivers who felt that the company valued them. It is amazing how quickly a culture can change! They will be facing a huge physician/nurse shortage soon as caregivers are leaving in droves.

Pros

I´ve worked at Intermountain Healthcare for 5 years. I started out as a PCT and HUC for 4 years and moved up to administrative assistant a year ago. I love that they always find small ways to show employees that they are appreciated. They pay for my positions has always been good and they increase it every year. I hope that once I finish my degree, I can keep moving up in the company.

Cons

Nothing I can think of at this time.

Pros

Loved working with fellow employees, benefits, nice facilities. The annual bonus was nice.

Cons

Worked there over 17 years, loved it at first, but over the years it has gotten to the point that I felt that the company could care less about any of their employees. It’s all about us working harder to get HCAHPS scores up and make them look good, but no incentive with lower pay than the other hospital systems and not feeling valued. Administration places some people in management positions who micromanage, are lazy, and will do whatever they ask to save money, which can affect staff and/or patient care. When presented with problems, they downplay them or turn it around on the presenter, because they don’t want to believe it’s a problem or address concerns.
