Pros

My colleagues are mission oriented and I never hear a bad word uttered about any patients. Everyone I work with really cares about what they do.

Cons

SCL Health has not, in my opinion, taken care of its employees well through this pandemic. I've been made to feel guilty about having to use time off to care for my children (during a pandemic, when there was no school or child care available and we are supposed to be social distancing!) There is a focus on productivity to the point of creating toxic stress for people who are doing good work.

Pros

Some of the most amazing people work here. You feel like you are truly making a difference. I loved their health incentive with a 100 dollar bonus. They provide pretty good benefits with a matched 401k.

Cons

Also some of the worst people work here. There was a lot to learn but I didn’t get the training to match all the rules and procedures. When I made a mistake I was made fun of and publicly humiliated. It was also really clicky like we were in high school. The night shift would have your back if you worked with them but if not they would gossip about how the others never do anything right. There was just a lot of back stabbing and bad mouthing others and management. Also if you want to get time off you will be extremely hard pressed to get your shifts covered. No one wants to work. One of the upper management nurses disliked it so much he would do two 16 hour shifts in a row just to get his hours over with for the week. You are on call sometimes as well. This was a pretty crazy place to work and getting there at 5:30 am to work a 12 hour shift was rough but I enjoyed working with the patients. I just couldn’t handle the negativity from the coworkers. Some amazing people worked there and really cared. Others had an inferiority complex and felt the need to belittle others to feel important.
