Pros

Excellent Benefits- dollar for dollar matching up to 4% on 401k. I locked into an okay pension (not available for employees brought on in 2020 to now), flexibility with what hours I want to work, not micro-managed, can do what I want to a certain extent, random $200 bonuses here and there that are company wide. There is definitely good work life balance, I don't do work outside of actual clinic hours.

Cons

Manager is managing a ton of people and not a dietitian, so it's hard to have them understand problems/needs. given that I'm a diabetes educator, they wouldn't let me work from home since I need to be in clinic to help with cgm/pump starts and the like. Since manager is covering so much, and everyone can kind of "do what they want," the nurses and MAs in my endocrinology clinic are not that comfortable with insulin (and don't have interest in gaining competence) and divert all insulin and diabetes medication refills to me, the dietitian/diabetes educator. So, I am doing a ton of Medical Assistant level admin work, which means I don't have room in my schedule to see many patients. But the clinic's argument is that we are short-staffed. Pay is low-ish, and raises are very hard to come by. You can really only expect a 2-4% raise each year and it's not merit based...literally just a standard "cost of living" raise, which obviously does not match inflation. My understanding with speaking with other intermountain dietitians that the dietitian manager positions don't pay very much and not worth it. The dietitian salaries are done by tiers. So, what tier you fall in depends on your years of experience and advanced certifications. There's entry dietitian, dietitian specialist I, dietitian specialist II, and I believe there may be a level III. I was able to get a 5% raise and bumped to specialist II when I passed a second certification exam on top of my CDCES. This year, the dietitian profession at the company got a salary adjustment of 4.5% which is nice and has not happened in the 3 years I've been here, so I did get some "big" raises this year.
