Pros

Caring coworkers, still have a pension

Cons

Poor management - written up and almost fired for trivial things like talking to your coworker. You're supposed to have a best friend at work, but can only talk to coworkers outside business hours. Weird. Poor pay - I thought stories of higher pay elsewhere were lies, because the wage difference was significant. HR evaluates wages every year right? Left and got paid $6/hr more. 25% increase, with comparable benefits. Outsourcing - good luck staying with the company long term. Even clinical positions have been considered for outsourcing. Low morale - a lot of changes with negative impacts on the work force. A lot of good talent lost.

Loved it, and then I didn't love it any more

Pros

Very skilled employees (Intermountain definitely attracts quality employees, especially the medical professionals working the ground floor). Benefits package was good, and offered medical, dental, eye care, 401k, pension, life insurance, etc.

Cons

Management at Intermountain, at least in the areas I worked, is not great. There was a lot of employee dissatisfaction because of managerial styles. The interesting thing is, when I was hired in the mid 00's, the place I worked felt completely different. Management was great and employee productivity was at high levels. There was a sort of "changing of the guard" a few years later and the organization went from feeling like a place mostly concerned with the wellbeing of others to feeling like a corporation that was more worried about the bottom line. Another big con was salary. I feel like they paid considerably less than other places for the same or similar jobs.
