Fun, but not practical

Pros

I liked the 4 day work week, and working in hospital locations with a cafeteria. Also they do a yearly pay raise based on cost of living and performance goals. Pay every other Friday. Select Health benefits are the best low cost options I have ever seen at an employer (because IHC owns Select Health).

Cons

72 hour pay periods instead of the typical 80 because PSR's are only allowed to work 36 hours a week. Also, PSR's are pretty underpaid for the work they do. It was not enough for me to make a living. High turnover. Myself and 3 other employees went to HR and did not feel we were listened to. Keep in mind that working for doctors can be difficult when they talk down to you and yell/degrade you in front of patients. You have to stay until the doctor leaves so you may be at work until 7-8pm when you were supposed to leave at 5 because the doctor has been behind all day. No real opportunities for growth for PSR's.

Pros

They have a monopoly on healthcare in Utah. So there's that...

Cons

pay was below local average, benefits were better everywhere else, management is constantly shoving some new acronym down your throat without any grasp on what matters, middle-management heavy, they demand much in the way of "extra training" for their employees without reward, workplaces are rarely friendly and don't promote teamwork or the best possible patient care
