Was Great Once

Pros

This was once a great company to work for. Great people, a stable company, and a chance to work with the latest technology. Good opportunities to learn and to advance in your career. There are also good opportunities for promotions as most management positions are filled from within.

Cons

The new CEO is pushing hard to outsource as much as possible. There have already been many layoffs with more on the way. The outsourcing workers do a mediocre job but management doesn't seem to care as long as they are cheap.

Pros

The people you work with are great

Cons

The company seems oblivious to the burnout they are causing with their nurses. Require nurses to get BSN but don't increase pay for doing so. High nurse to patient ratios and outrageous amounts of "audits". Low pay in a state that has experienced excessive cost of living inflation. Being micromanaged. They claim to listen to nursing staff but it is really all about the budget. High turnover, over half the nurses in my unit, have been a nurse for less than 2 years which requires the use of new grad charge nurses. In a constant state of training new nurses because of turnover. The computer charting system that they spent ridiculous amounts of money on is terrible but they're invested so plan on it staying.

Managers believe employees are sheep

Pros

The benefits at IHC are great; that's the extent of the good things.

Cons

The lack of leadership is staggering. "Managers/Supervisors/Lead people" don't listen to employees and they think they can go off and create totally new processes without any feedback from the employees. There is an expectation that the management can do no wrong and all the employees will just bend to the will of the latest and greatest fiasco.
