Changes through outsourcing

Pros

The culture WAS great. I appreciated management and my colleagues throughout my career. I enjoyed the opportunity to learn about new emerging technologies and proudly deliver services that helped our community. Although my pay range was lower than industry standards, the culture, innovations, and stability drew me to stay with the organization. It felt like "home" (in a good way), and I thought this would be where I would retire. As far as my previous years with Intermountain, I have nothing ill to say. Right now, they are reformulating and of course, that part is incredibly destructive to those in their path.

Cons

I've been with Intermountain through many IT outsourcing scares. This one has by far been the most terrifying, and more personally, the most destructive. Healthcare as a whole, through the nation, is going through a lot of changes. Though well-thought-out changes can be good, outsourcing what were key players in innovations and operations (yes, Intermountain did receive a lot of awards for integrating technology into healthcare) is counterproductive and potentially harmful. The overall attitude is at an all-time low (both those who are staying and those who got outsourced), and it's hard seeing those who were like "family" struggling to keep what's left of dignity. On a personal level, they are like everyone else, just trying to do what is in their best interest--but at the same time, Intermountain was blessed with having employees who were proud to work there. The allegiance was in hopes to make a positive impact on the company and for the betterment of the community.

Marc Harrison CEO is a Narcissist. He has created a very toxic environment. Need more PTO.
