Pros

They rule the state of Utah so if you wish to move locations and stay inside the organization, you'll have plenty of options.

Cons

A great company if you don't ever want to own a house, have a good home/work life balance, never want to make more than people hired after you or feel appreciated in any way. Moral is low, the quality of care is slipping and every year it gets worse. Benefits are a solid 5/10. I've been with the company for 7 years as an RN and I make the same as my new grad friend at the U of U.

Pros

Large hospital system with fairly good access to specialist referrals. Caring clinicians though many are leaving for better opportunities. Fair compensation though "lock based pay scale system" encourages mediocrity. Cannot speak to specialty care.

Cons

Poor administrative understanding of the needs of a healthcare system. Run by MHAs and MBAs not physicians and the physicians they do have on exec boards have clinical experience in remote past. They only hire admin from within, rarely getting outsider perspective. In primary care under the guise of value based care admin regularly acts in business interest rather than patient care.

Pros

Stellar reputation for research and innovation Positioned well for healthcare reform and expansion

Cons

No longer truly cares about employees. Constant churn of reorganization, leaving unstable work environment. Talent and training is no longer requisite, overshadowed by politics. Top heavy, multilayered leadership, creating much financial waste paid for by the frontline staff.
