Pros

During my years at Intuitive, I have found multitude of pros that make it an exceptional workplace. For a start - I feel grateful to be a part of the purpose to improve patient care by innovating ways to minimize surgical invasion and helping with fast recovery. Keeping team sizes small and agile helps make decisions faster. The teams thrive on collaboration and there are abundant opportunities for career growth, bolstered by access to appropriate training sessions and clear pathway for advancement. Overall, a strong company culture rooted in collaboration, innovation and creating a fulfilling work environment.

Cons

If I had to nitpick, cafe offerings are average and the need to drive to the main cafe for some variety can be a bit inconvenient.

Pros

If you are just out of college this is a great company name, great intense training if you have the capacity of waking up very early mornings and getting to the first proceedures in the Operating Rooms of your area. It is great for learning the procedure steps of many surgeries and develop relationships with high volume surgeons. You learn how to train and develop new surgeons, staff and how to holistically run a surgical program.

Cons

If you have the mentality of grinding for your career then work life balance will not be something you think about much but career progression will be on your mind constantly. Promotion from Associate to Sales rep is very difficult depending your location, almost a deal breaker if you are looking for quick advancement. The politics behind the scenes with the sales leadership of your area can sway who they choose for succession into territories. They will tell you to develop your blind spots while they figure things out. CTAs in this holding pattern can go 3 or 4 years in the CTA role without promotion and need to look country wide to compete for a quota bearing spot which is financially significant (CTA's make about 34% less than CSAs & 42% Less than CSRs). While leadership can be uncertain how they choose to place quota bearing reps, there is a growing number of companies with CSR comp plans and products with similar growth to Intuitive which are targeting hungry CTAs for promotion. So the question these days for a CTA is do you wait to get in a CSA Comp position or take an offer for another org for a CSR Comp position. It's a tough decision.

Pros

Strong training with highest caliber sales and management team I have ever seen in 15 years of med device.

Cons

Opportunity for upward mobility is difficult if you are not willing to relocate. However with new innovation and growth in other areas of the company opportunities should be more plentiful.

Pros

What I enjoyed most about this role was its impact. I loved having the opportunity to educate physicians and hospital staff on how robotic surgery works. We were able to create fun and engaging training sessions, making the learning experience both informative and enjoyable.

Cons

I truly wanted this job to work out, but I found the onboarding process to be extremely rigorous and disorganized. Leadership was not very supportive or understanding. When I expressed to my manager the stress and pressure I was under during onboarding, I was simply told, “This is the expectation.” The training period was too short, requiring us to memorize and present an extensive package of information in just a few days. Failing any of these “sign-offs” meant being one step closer to termination. I believe employees should be given the time to truly understand and learn the material, rather than just memorizing it under pressure. If they could improve the onboarding process, this could be an amazing job opportunity.
