Pros

Amazing employee discount- when I was there, we received 30% off of all full-price clothing and an additional 50% off of all clothing on sale, in addition to several other discount perks. Great way to boost your wardrobe with quality clothing.

Cons

Sales Associates receive an hourly rate that is barely above minimum wage, and there is a high sales transaction threshold for receiving sales commissions. As someone who was a seasonal employee on the sales floor, this meant that full-time stylists received the vast majority of the large transactions coming through the door. Seniority was definitely at play.

Opportunity to move up

Pros

There are a lot of different positions available; if you want to move up you can and the ease of transfer between store is a great benefit. But it's very competitive in the beginning to try and get shifts and more hours.

Cons

it feels as though you are constantly proving your worth to the company before you get any recognition or benefit. instead of the company taking a chance on you, it's on you to show the you are capable before they give you anything.

Pros

As a merchant you will find no better education. I learned so much from Mickey and his teams; he might be the biggest perk of working at 770. That being said, J.Crew is different from any other retailer and it's definitely not for everyone; but if it's for you, it's the best place to work. 770 is an awesome location. Work/life balance exceeds most other NYC-based retailers. The discount is, of course, a huge perk.

Cons

The state of business today means that raises, promotions, and perks are sparse to non-existent. Salaries are at the lower end for the industry. Working for a brand whose image went from top of the industry to the bottom in ~5 years is tough. The office environment can be cliquey and there is definitely a system of favoritism (though this is true for most companies in the industry).
