Pros

free outfit when you start great discount (1/2 off of sale especially) ok coworkers customers are great 9 times out of 10

Cons

-you'll be given almost no hours a week most of the year and many shifts will be on call (which means you have to be available at that time...but you won't be working) -in many situations you'll be set up for failure -I'm leaving because I can't deal with the straight up bullying from management at the store I work with anymore. They trash talk employees (I know they trash talk and start fights and gossip about me behind my back because they do this to literally every other employee), gossip, and try to start stuff with other employees. They do this to everyone and aren't to be trusted, and it sucks working for someone like that it makes going to work a drag. I can deal with bad customers, I'm a salesperson and love my job, but I draw the line at bad management and this job depends 100% on who your managers are. - management at all stores doesn't seem to know how to schedule people. Just because someone is a great salesperson doesn't mean they're a good leader or manager. - you'll get the occasional horrible customer, which isn't so bad, but management will always take their side and won't help you if you're new and start to struggle. short summary: this is an ok job if you have good management that you get along with, but the work atmosphere is so horrible and based on manipulation and bullying via the management that it's not worth working here for low pay. If you're like me and want to just do your job, you can find better places to work at.

Pros

- Generous PTO. - Good employee discounts/incentives.

Cons

- Literally zero emphasis on learning and development for any new hire at any level. - Hands down the worst brand I’ve been with in terms of overall communication whether it be between the store and employees and managers or senior retail team to to store director or HR. Hardly anyone is ever on the same page. - Inconsistency amongst all departments when it comes to stock and deliveries. Every shipment that comes has at least one madewell or J. Crew Factory item that then needs to be shipped back. Also, every week there is at least one customer who comes in to return an item(s) that they didn’t even order. That item then needs to be adjusted by inventory control and then sent out again. The frequency of these stock issues is not even close to what I’ve seen with previous brands. - Uses “complaints” as a performance metric. This brand will never have your back. They are so scared of losing customers that it’s become uncomfortable anytime there’s an issue when it comes to policy that we literally had to just give them what they want because we “can’t have any complaints.” - Literally no LP training or basic LP practices. - Experienced and long tenured Store Directors apparently have an unwritten allowance to take off more weekends than usual and never have to close. Must be nice! - Most importantly, there is a complete lack of leadership not only in the location that I worked at but throughout the company it seems. There is no plan. No thoughts about developing talent. The minute you come to leadership with any issues or wanting change they don’t really listen or take any action. They just immediately assume that you’re not happy and you’ll just leave. Just an absolutely poor culture and an absolute shock that this brand has a 3.9 rating.
