Pros

Nice perks on clothes if your store meets sales goals

Cons

Very very poor upper management. No support from district/regional managers. They never visit the store. Never help with sales tactics. Most of the time emails go unanswered from district manager. Really disappointing considering the efforts from within the actual store.

The Good and Otherwise Not So Much

Pros

Easy to sell high quality clothing. Doesn’t involve nighttime work hours. Ability to maintain a loyal following of wonderful customers who are such a pleasure to deal with. Solid and committed coworkers. Employee discount very good.

Cons

Due to small staffing there are times when I must work alone — which in itself is not a problem, but there are days when in store traffic is extremely low and time drags by so slowly it’s mind numbingly painful. I feel that were it not for such a strong following of return customers, I’m not sure the store would be sustainable. But that is just my opinion. Our clothing appeals to a certain demographic of those interested in a tasteful conservative style and have the financial means to afford it. Sizing runs 0-14. Associates are discouraged from reaching out directly to anyone in Corporate, even at the District Manager level. Your only channel is through your store manager. If your store manager happens to be the source of the problem (I’m fortunate to have a kind, caring and fair minded store manager) then you will need to think about resigning. It’s just that simple. And finally, there appears to be no evaluation and reward (salary increase potential) system in place.
