Difficult, challenging, and sometimes rewarding.
Pros
I was extremely happy with my pay rate. Their pay is competitive to other positions in similar fields and it varies based on your experience. Sales associates probably make the least with starting rates at about minimum wage. I had more experience so I was paid more, but what really made my pay work for me was the commission opportunities. There were times when I worked by my butt off and was making around $15 an hour.
Cons
The biggest thing that I didn't like about working for jcp was the old people who had worked there forever. I felt like they were very slow, and many of coworkers were very inept at their jobs. Whenever I would come up with new, innovative, and what I felt were amazing ideas my team mates were very quick to shoot them down with the line "Oh that's just now how you do things here at jcpenney". Which wasn't very consistent with management and senior management who are all pushing the envelope and taking steps to develop the store's image, and brand and stuff.
