Pros

Pay is better than many retailers at corporate level. The people are awesome. The learning curve is steep and but you will be better at what you do for it, as long as you are willing to pursue answers and put in the initiative.

Cons

The work/life balance is non-existent. The company is unwilling to build out teams correctly in order to manage workload. All cross-functional teams are overworked and lack support. The company is more concerned about their bottom line than their employees. There is also a huge gap in understanding and expectations from the Director level and above of processes and deliverables and the time needed to complete. Additionally, milestone deliverables/presentation and due dates are not thought through and are constantly falling on days with other major deadlines. Teams are constantly asked multiple times to redo work. CMO is more concerned with aesthetic, than true business driving product. The company is slow to recognize talent and is more concerned with “putting in your time” vs ones abilities and accomplishments proving they are ready for the next step. It is a highly political and old-school work environment.

Pros

I had an amazing team that was the hardest part.

Cons

Too many changes since the buy out of the company we have lost so many employees people are leaving there’s no security with the unknown of the company, going down hill everyday … used to be fully staffed and busy and now no one wants to work there under paid over worked absolutely zero Zero support from store GMs and staff I. The store for their salons. Only care about the numbers and the pay structure is aweful a lot of stylist left because working that hard for nothing and minimum wage as a licensed professional! No thank you the competition will always win. The sales are so down shipments don’t come store and malls are dead driving no sales it’s a sinking ship.

Not a great place to work

Pros

Fun co-workers and occasionally there are days where you can veer from the dress code.

Cons

Your hours depend on how many customers you get to sign up for the JCPenney credit card and how well the general manager likes you. If you struggle to get customers to sign up for the credit card, good luck on getting enough hours to to make ends meet. Management will try to train you to be manipulative with customers to get them to open up a credit card, often times with elderly customers. It's incredibly sleazy.
