Pros

The medical center is an amazing benefit. While I have not utilized all the new features of the new campus, it is spectacular to look at.

Cons

One team that no one can stand to work with is the technology team. And since a big part of my job revolves around technology and it actually working - this causes me great difficulty. It is no secret that the team is full of themselves and moves at their own pace but has essentially no accountability. I think due to JM flat out ignoring the overall inept aspect of our tech and associated teams, our profits will continue to be absorbed and we will continue to lag in the mobility space. Additionally, I keep seeing more and more of the unearned arrogance that permeates the tech department starting to seep across the rest of the businesses. It’s kind sad.

Pros

Good food in cafe Some really good people Reliable compensation

Cons

What is happening in IT? Some very weird promotions and departures over the past 1-2 years or so. JM seems to have COVID. A lot of departures that no one saw coming. Why has the culture declined so much? The ‘family’ in IT is dysfunctional. Promotions do not in any way map to capability. Unsure why CIO makes the decisions he does - appear to not be rooted in true business value. We continue to have lots of good conversations but I can’t in any way understand some of the recent position promotions. There are so many directors who essentially provide minimal value. I don’t even understand the EA function - what have they actually done in past 5 years? All we seem to do is swap out technology. I guess that is good for the vendor ecosystem. I don’t think our delivery teams could move any slower - their leaders seem to just fight all the time. They are full of contractors but not held accountable to actively execute, forget about delivering.

Core Values are losing importance

Pros

Work life balance is truly supported. Bonus programs and profit sharing is very good. Its a very stable company in regards to employment stability.

Cons

Over the last few years, the companies dedication to its culture and core values has slipped. Two recent senior level hires are representative of this shift in culture. The new CIO and the newest GVP in the finance division are clearly allowed to skirt all of the core values that regular associates are measured against. There are clear issues starting to show because people are beginning to leave the company, which use to never happen. Additionally, the company continues to slide down the best places to work rankings. But profits are up so none of these associate and culture related issues are going to be looked at. We now have beautiful new buildings to work in but nobody wants to come back and thats has as much to do about low employee moral as it does covid.
