Pros

- Full Remote - No client limitations (ability to recruit in any industry, any vertical, contract/perm/retained, etc.) as long as the fee was over a certain number - Closers baskets (gift baskets for those that were billing above a certain amount each month), although, I heard they stopped giving these - They put a lot of money in advertising and marketing - Best "base salary" in the industry, at least at the time I was hired (however, commission is on a 'draw' - see Cons), I heard they asked those that they didn't lay off to take lower salaries

Cons

Where do I begin... - Zero training and onboarding: they claim to recruit "only the best of the best" to work at this company and make it seem prestigious to come work here. But this is how they get away with not having to train you, because everyone "should" already know what they're doing - Commission is on a draw, but this is not explained to you throughout the hiring process. And once hired, no one on the team seems to know how it works - Company started doing rounds of FIRING mid-2023, they would tell us that it was "due to performance" which was inconsistent. Employees that were performing were still being let go, yet those that sucked up to management or had a personal relationship with them got to stay on-board. They would categorize these as performance issues to keep the turnover numbers positive. - They spend hundreds of thousands on company incentive parties and trips. When leadership was asked why not cancel those incentive trips to pay their staff, their answer was "because we've already planned the trip" - Health insurance was cut off for a full month (and it sounds like it's happened again since) leaving those who really need it in a bind. We were told that "If you're billing and meeting your draw, you shouldn't be worried about something as small as health care coverage" - No ownership accountability on candidates and clients. It felt like I was always competing with my colleagues just to keep my own book of business, people were always stealing candidates especially - No real structure on what level recruiter (job title) and pay they offer you. It seemed to be based on your personal relationship with someone at the company (a lot of managers would hire their friends and family, lots of husband/wives on the same team) - There was no true HR when I was there, no one to go to with concerns or issues about the company... probably because they didn't want to hear about them in the first place - Advertised "Free Fridays" (every other Friday off) but then leadership would make you feel guilty if you weren't online. Also still expected to work even if you took PTO - CEO bullies grown adults at company parties and baits them with cash in to jumping in to pools, the ocean, Newport Bay (in an area that was illegal and had Coast Guard coming after those that jumped) - Disorganized rollouts for new tech and any company updates (i.e. Jax updates, Jobot Consulting, etc.). People are going to say "this happens with a start up" but the company was founded in 2018 and continues to employ "the best of the best"... shouldn't the "best" know how to properly implement change? I could go on... but I'm tired of giving this company my time and energy.

Pros

Remote Work, Jax is great too!

Cons

Poor Management, No HR Department, No Rules of engagement. There’s a draw salary and you’re in debt from day 1. There’s no ramp up period for people that are new to the recruiting side of things. I got hired right before Christmas and began being hounded about performance in Feb and I hadn't had time to get any real clients. Super shady business practices, example- sending someones resume and to a client without their knowledge. Also, they praise the ground that Heidi walks on so if you don’t want to drink the kool aid then you’ll always feel like an outcast. This is the strangest company I have ever worked for that literally puts worthless trinkets and crap before their people. Also, diversity is a lie their may be 4 people of under represented ethnicities at Jobot. If they contact you run in the other direction as fast at you can.

Pros

Note - I am still employed here and due to my billing, I feel relatively stable. I am still trying to find something that long term is going to be a better fit for my mental health and overall career goals. Pros: - free Fridays. Really the only thing left that has me considering staying through the summer - There are some very nice people here who do want to see you do well - The in person trips were nice (no longer happening) - they used to send monthly gift baskets to billers (no longer happening) - can work any market you want to - most everyone that is hired has been a high biller at previous firms

Cons

Let me start off by saying even the recent 5 star reviews more or less say “yeah things have sucked, but that just happens sometimes, we’re a start up, etc”. That should be a huge warning flag to avoid this place if you’re a perspective job seeker and a high biller at your current firm. We’re recruiters. When we hear a candidate tell us that their company: - lost all health benefits for a month (we were gaslit into being told this was a accounting hiccup and was not a big deal as they’d reimburse the medical bills we were footing once our insurance was reinstated) - starts asking employees to consider taking pay cuts if they aren’t clearing their draw - 2-3 months after losing benefits, it turns out there are a few more financial troubles and they let go of 150-200 employees - tried pressuring employees with the option to resign rather than be let go (which prevents you from collecting unemployment) - cease all in person events, in-office weekly events / activities - are unable to pay manager override bonuses - Yet are still posting and boasting about the company on LinkedIn as being a top place to work, and making “jokes” about being open to work on April Fools day just a month or so after cutting a large chunk of staff? We’d tell that candidate they need to get out of their job ASAP. The company culture was supposedly built on kindness, but the way they cut some of my peers with no PIPs, no warnings, and then the matter in which executive leadership addressed it (or lack thereof until there were complaints that no one knew what was happening), is anything but the opposite. It’s sad, because a few years ago this company was truly amazing to work for. However when you hire with no plan, begin offering insane draws of 150k-200k to employees having to rebuild a book of business, and spend money recklessly, this is the result we get.
