Pros

-Benefits such as PTO, insurance -Very easy to be promoted if you are a decent worker -Despite a very mediocre base pay, the tips over the summer are very decent. You'll most likely make around $20/hr starting off in the summer, a bit less as it gets colder. -Company promotes from within, so all store managers, as well as the regional manager, were also juicers at some point. -The objective responsibilities are very easy if you are properly trained.

Cons

-Stores are given a pretty low budget as far as how many hours can be given out, so you'll often be understaffed even if everyone shows up to their shifts. -The "Great Resignation" has hit these stores really hard, and so we have had a hard time retaining talent and hiring people. There is a really high turnover, and the people that get hired now are really unskilled and have no customer service or food service skills. They also do not take the job seriously and have really poor attitudes. What makes this worse is the fact that our HR department is extremely defensive of these people and will side with them with zero hesitation if managers try to discipline/fire these people. Employees talk back to customers/managers, talk on their phones behind the counter, have entire 1-star Google/Yelp reviews dedicated to them, no call/no show repeatedly, steal tips, commit time-theft, and more. Shift and store managers are not able to demote/fire these people and HR is extremely lenient until these issues have snowballed out of control. This sets a bad example and has also compromised our app ratings and our ability to fulfill in-store and online orders effectively. -Most stores are located in downtown Chicago. Therefore, you'll have to deal with volatile homeless people with severe mental illness on a near daily basis over the summer. People have quit solely for this reason, as there have been many times where we have been verbally assaulted or physically threatened. -Stores open at 6/7 am, meaning your shifts will start 5/6 am. You probably won't live downtown and will have to commute, so be prepared to get up at 3-4 in the morning for these shifts. I'd argue it's cruel for the company to do this as it is really unsafe around the area and on the CTA during this time, and many employees are teenagers and/or women. There's barely any people around and we hardly get any business between 6-8, so I'm not sure what incentive this company has to open so early. -Company does a comically bad job at keeping our stores stocked with the bare necessities that we need to make products. They won't send our stores the items we need despite us placing the orders on time, and there is zero explanation or accountability when this happens.

Pros

You’ll get to meet and work with a lot of cool people

Cons

You’ll have to work by yourself for hours, you’re constantly running back and forth, bending over and doing heavy lifting, without any real breaks. Oftentimes you’ll go your entire shift without eating, because customers just keep coming in and you’re alone. The amount of hours you get for closing shifts aren’t enough for the amount of work you have to do. You’ll often have to stay late without being paid for it. The shifts you get are random, you can close one night then open the next morning, there’s little to no consistency. There’s also a kinda creepy cultish vibe the company gives off, it’s very do it for joe believe in joe. When really their practices are very exploitative. The company demands a lot and gives little in return. I haven’t gotten any benefits and I’ve been here a year. They seem more interested in expanding, always opening new stores than making sure their employees are happy and the stores they do have are functional. Things break often and it can take months before they’re fixed. There’s just so much mental and physical stress it’s really not worth it. They make it seem like a cool job but really it’s as much a slave job as any other major food chain, but worse because at least those other food chains always have a team there.
