Pros

The different departments in the county do good work and people are committed to public service. Good benefits, making a difference in the community, and working with caring people.

Cons

I didn't have any autonomy in my job I spent most of the time going back and forth with the managers trying to get things approved. The Human Resources Partners were often put in the middle between the department and HR leadership and it was very frustrating because we weren't the decision makers but we had to communicate the decisions.

Pros

Before the office manager left the office had a family feel. It was a team professionally and socially.

Cons

After the office manager left there was an end to the social aspect of the office. There is a strict policy of no talking with co-worker's. Management is always looking into employee's computers after they leave work. The work assignment was greater than the individual could meet. Favorites got raises and shirked their responsibility to the less favored ones.

Pros

Workload is very reasonable. The job was challenging but goals were reachable. The atmosphere has the ability to be light and fun. There are managers who do genuinely care about their people. They see the value in having happy employees makes a happy business operation and makes happy customers.

Cons

The commission’s are the rudest, most entitled “Karens and Kevins” I’ve ever seen in my life. They really need to be humbled. If you think they are bad during the board meetings, you should see them make all of their staff members cry on a regular basis when the county isn't watching them. Outside of the commissioners, most upper management is disconnected. We all know HR is not your friend but it’s serious here. Trust they are best buddies with your manager and will ALWAYS side with the manager and CTA. A good amount of managers have “toxic work family” culture. One lady in the finance office had a reputation of causing livelihood impacts and many more problems on employees if they didn’t show her *enough* attention and special interest. Her name rhymes with Bashley Beer.
