Job was great until UNC took over. They sent in a company that has ruined productivity and moral.

Pros

Hospital is very close to home, benefits are average and we have gym that you get a 'discount' on membership. Still more than than other guns in the area.

Cons

Promotions go to outside applicants with the same qualifications as the in house loyal employees have.

Pros

Close knit family/team approach to care, excellent team work amongst co-workers. Patient safety is priority among caregivers. UNC's recent acquisition of this rural hospital system may improve it's services offered and may decrease nurse/patient ratios and improve benefit packages offered.

Cons

Nurse to patient ratio is somewhat high in the inpatient areas, especially at night with a lack of clinical support such as CNA's mostly at night when ratios can sometimes reach 7:1 or 8:1 when that clinical support is needed. Organizational structure is not conducive to career advancement, and sometimes executive decisions result in a delay in care or poor patient outcomes.

The majority of people are caring, passionate people Average pay for the area Relatively flexible scheduling given enough advance notice

Cons

Management stinks!!! It is all about how much you can do, in the shortest amount of time, with the smallest amount of staff. Staff gets burned out and then they can hire the cheapest labor to do the same job- they are filling spaces with warm bodies, who are not necessarily qualified! PRODUCTIVITY is not good patient care!
