KLAS puts the "cult" in culture

Pros

Great people at the lower levels. Good pay. Interesting work.

Cons

Working here is like joining a cult. You are expected to follow the revelations of your leaders without questioning anything. They want employees to crave feedback, yet KLAS leadership can't handle even the slight hint of feedback on them. If someone in leadership screws something up, you can't mention it or you'll be labeled a "bad culture fit". It should be labeled a "bad cult fit". You are not allowed to provide context to anything that leadership chooses to criticize or you'll be accused of "not owning it". They promote and retain the "yes" men (and I purposely only listed "men" because they don't really promote women) and they alienate and drive away any free thinkers and once you leave you are ostracized as if you've apostatized from the one true and living company.

Pros

Flexible work schedule Brings in lunch often for staff Friendly coworkers, numerous sports teams to join

Cons

Ladies, if you're looking for a company that values the female opinion then KLAS Enterprises isn't the place for you. The majority of women are in administrative roles and take the brunt of the workload while their male superiors enjoy weeks off before business travel, a week vacation in Mexico with company executives, and the freedom to throw their weight around without repercussions. The outspoken male is rewarded while the outspoken female is reprimanded. Unfortunately company culture defaults to the Mormon-heirachy of order because executives are old school. A woman's opinion is a suggestion or one to be considered while a man's opinion is respected and valued. In fact, at an all-staff meeting an executive shared a sexist joke that he heard while on business in the Middle East about a woman's role to her husband. At another all-staff meeting, another executive mocked a female's new hair color. Females are also told during orientation that they can't wear sleeveless shirts because they are considered immodest. There are no female executives and probably never will. Because females aren't included in decision making meetings, most males speak down to their female coworkers as if they aren't smart enough to grasp complex topics or offer good alternatives. Any man that has been with the company more than 5 years seems to be given a pass when he doesn't meet deadlines or expectations. Women are held to a strict standard. If they don't meet that standard, gossip begins to spread that the woman in question isn't passionate about the company or can't handle the workload. Obviously, this isn't a place that promotes women outside of the administrative/support roles.

Pros

Free popcorn and easy mac Paycheck (abeit a weak one for many, considering their experience and the hours they pull) Nice coworkers They hire the best and the brightest

Cons

Unless they sell, I don't think this place can survive its turnover. Nepotism abounds. Old school sexism is alive and well They exploit the altruism of local Mormon culture - because they are "improving healthcare" 70 weeks are the standard if you want to be valued Project management is a joke Questionable research practices from some higher-ups (this company gets sued frequently, and sometimes there really is a good reason) Passive aggressive communication, and management will make decisions based on rumors If you have failed to impress once, you might as well leave. Unfavorable judgement cannot be remedied. PTO isn't really PTO, as no workload adjustment is made for monthly performance metrics OR mandatory travel.
