Just Keeps Getting Worse and Worse

Pros

Co-workers have become basically the only reason to stick around. Benefits are alright.

Cons

We’ve no had two rounds of layoffs in two years, on top of multiple “restructuring” efforts that are either poorly thought out or very poorly explained. Teams are consistently asked to do more with exactly the same resources. Unless you’re the admin team who has receive approval for TWO net new hires in the past several months. IT is always underwater, marketing and design seem so stressed I worry they may all up and quit leaving the CMO to poorly try and do everyone’s jobs. (When are they going to look into how overworked, underpaid, and poorly managed these teams are?) They continue to fire or passive aggressively punish anyone who tries to raise red flags. HR is absolutely no help. And the top leadership (CEO and President) don’t really seem to have a grasp on the true morale of the company. They claim to hire employees for their ideas and passion and but then try and fit every single employee into their ideal. (square pegs into round holes) Oh, and I recently learned through a former employee that when they fire people, they ALWAYS contest unemployment. Meaning that if you do get fired, they will take you to court instead of paying the measly amount (that they already pay through their insurance) that might help former employees.

All roads lead to Employee Burnout.

Pros

The mission is good. There are good people that work here. The work can be tough and exciting. The pay is average.

Cons

The first year can be great but really fades once employees start to see the inefficiencies, lack of tools, and structure. A lot of leadership changes, senior leaders being demoted, senior leaders leaving, outside senior leaders coming in and leaving shortly after. It is very political, with a lot of groupthink. Not a very diverse company, No diversity in senior leadership. There are a couple of women, but mostly friends and family at the top, who can do no wrong. The growth strategy is just to ask each burned-out employee to work overtime and produce more and be paid less. Pay is average, raises and bonuses are shrinking massively even though the company is comfortably profitable. Leadership often can’t stick with a plan; they are constantly changing their strategic initiatives once they don’t see massive immediate success. Senior leadership is more interested in driving production numbers than caring and developing their employees, unfortunately, the only way to hit some of their high expectations is to work 60 to 80 hours a week.

Pros

I can think of none

Cons

The K & A pushed out the L & S. Company is shrinking and everyone is being asked to do more with less. We are moving locations in 2021 which the company portrays as a step up but its really about costuming. We are shorthanded, we have to hire a lot of Temps or previous employees. Company is very vindictive if you just want to do your job and go home--they want you to participate in all the events.
