Pros

The brand vision is very inspiring every season

Cons

The creative teams are extremely overworked, under acknowledged, and taken advantage of from every division at every level. Nothing is ever good enough, people are no empowered to make decisions or do their job, and there is absolutely no work life balance (or the realization that there should be one). The company has taken a very superficial stance on mental health following Kate Spade's suicide but offering 'mental health' seminars where you can go to mediate, etc. However, very few people can actually attend these due to workload and meetings.

Pros

I was hired for a temporary freelance position. The designers I worked with were all supportive and the rest of the people at the company all seemed friendly. The office is really nice too. The hours were very long and we worked over the weekend as well. This was brought up in my initial interview and I was being paid hourly so it was not a problem, as they were very upfront about it.

Cons

While working I noticed a lot of the full time designers seemed to accept the fact that they would be there until 9-10PM every night or on Saturdays and therefore weren't very productive. As a freelancer it doesn't matter, but for full time employees it seems there is room for improvement as far as productivity goes.

Pros

great discount, and noone really cared what you were doing.

Cons

killed my self esteem, poor management, If you don't look the part you will be reminded on a daily basis. I have never worked for such a critical company. You have to hustle in order to make commission, and the commission structure is so ridiculous. They almost make it impossible for you to make any extra money. Just do not do it! I honestly do not see this company going very far just because the DM and managers are so...i hate to use the word stupid, but it is appropriate. They focus more on appearance than work ethic. I have been in retail for many, many years, and this is the worst company i have worked for. I am extremely driven and hustle like one would not believe. Kate Spade is honestly just a joke.
