Pros

-no nametag, freedom to dress nice. -good hours during holiday season with the range being 15 to 20 per week. -product you're selling is unique and chic.

Cons

-high turnover rate and low morale. -the 50% off employee discount is actually a con because you wont even be able to afford anything. -terrible hours allotted in the non-holiday seasons. -Sales themed employee bingo and other miscellaneous "contests", with no real incentives. You get an extra 15 minute break if you complete the bingo sheet. WOW. Sometimes, only sometimes, you get a $5 coffee giftcard for selling the most in a weekend. DOUBLE WOW. -being scheduled for "On-Call" shifts. that's when they don't know if you're needed to work. So they want you to call in two hours before your supposed shift just to see if you're allowed to come in to work or "enjoy your day off" at their discretion. 99% of the time you're "not needed". -the commission is a complete joke, the way it works is that when the store does well OVERALL. everyone gets a bonus. that rarely ever happens. in 2013 everyone was able to make an extra $200 bonus for christmas. in 2014 the store doubled what they made from the previous year and we did not get a single christmas bonus. -Kate Spade 1812 in Cabazon, Ca is the number ONE outlet store in all of the united states. They reached an unheard of milestone of 15 million in 2014 and only management recieved a bonus. They even have the audacity to cut everyones hours do to "the needs of the business", according to an employee email which to me is pretty cynical. -stagnant opportunities to succeed. -there is no feeling of being a part of a team. its management's "me first mentality" vs everyone else. -last but not least, 5 to 10 hours per week is what everyone gets. Some employees don't even work for two weeks at a time yet they constantly hire new people.

Pros

product is cute, nice details. stores seem fun and whimsical, visuals are strong. compensation and benefits are above average.

Cons

where do I start. Imagine working for the worst sorority you can imagine, full of the most catty, superficial, petty, backstabbing gossipy girls (and I'm talking about upper management and executives as well as store level employees). I am embarrassed I ever worked for this company and can't believe I lasted as long as I did. If you shop in one of the stores and feel like they are talking about you after you leave the store or while you are in the fitting room, you are probably right. If you call HR, you will be blackballed by the sorority and things will get bad -fast. Mean Girls style. Avoid this brand - you will be talked about behind your back, thrown under the bus, gossiped about - it's middle school all over again. If you miss middle school, consider working at kate spade.

Pros

Safe environment. You get time off, you are allowed to leave after six (but you will not). Unlimited sick days.

Cons

My perspective is from the creative services team. This team was wildly mistreated by upper management. The team struggled through with loads of work, while other teams (buying, merch, store ops) were handed new head counts every quarter. It was extremely frustrating. It was sad to also see all of the people from Andy and Kate days jump ship. Sadly, the creative has in the recent year or so fallen extremely flat. The product stays novelty and colorful. The company has yet to decided if it is going to be a lifestyle brand, or really force its way into the fashion game. Neither have been greatly successful. (Try launching "bridal" with no gowns... Or sprucing up "black nylon bag displays" in the store...when merch refuses to buy any in color) The constant flex between creative and the numbers people is at every company. However, no one was protecting creative at KSNY. I was held at a lower position/title for scale range with no one above me within 3 tiers. So I was doing all of that work as well. Meetings with Craig did nothing. He bolstered the business teams. This is not a high fashion/ luxury brand. So, huge mistakes are made and no one has to take responsibility for the mistakes. That , in turn breeds a very lackadaisical work environment.
