Pros
Management has begun moving in the right direction in terms of giving salespeople the tools they need to be most effective while on the road. Great opportunity to earn good money for the amount of work done. Excellent launchpad for a career in sales in industrial manufacturing.
Cons
Very visible glass ceiling for anyone who does not come from the Japanese HQ. Management positions are few, and tend not to open up very frequently. The culture is inflexible in certain aspects, making it sometimes difficult to maintain a good work/life balance. The repetitive nature of the job and the metrics used to assess salespeople become numbing over time and lead to a burnout of most salespeople by the 3-5 year mark. Good news is that by that time, companies with more flexible cultures will be knocking on your door to hire you. Bonus structure levels off at a sometimes unfair level compared to the amount of sales brought in.
