Pros

Huge opportunity for professional development Smart people all over Ability to exercise creativity and initiative Fun and supportive culture Really supported by my manager and huge priority on personal life over work Rapid growth and new products being developed constantly

Cons

Challenging environment for those without much experience. To succeed, stakeholder management is very important, initiative, and an understanding of the whole business is needed. Turnover is high due to fast paced change that not everyone is cut out for. Ways of working are continually changing so flexibility is important.

Pros

The support that I've received throughout my career in Koala has covered the whole range of professional & personal support. I started my Koala journey when I was 10 weeks pregnant with my second child & was immediately assured that this would not be an issue. I was still offered all of the same opportunities to undertake projects within different teams, leadership roles & the most important part of it all, I felt 100% included at all times. After I had my daughter, the whole team checked in on me - that was truly a bit of a surprise, but the most welcome one! Colleagues from HR, P&C & my own team all reached out, of their own accord & professionally, to remind me of the resources available to myself & my family. I returned to work just 3 months after having my daughter, in the middle of a pandemic. The transition was easier than when I went back pre-pandemic when I had my older son. The flexibility & understanding that the whole company showed, from the leadership team top down, was incredible. The cherry on top was when my skills, availability & true passion was all taken into consideration without me even asking my leaders, & a role came up in another team that honestly, feels like it was created just for me to have purpose in life - & that's a huge call right. It's been a steep learning curve in an industry I've been previously unfamiliar with, but I've never been happier in my work life & this speaks volumes for my home life & my young family, which is nothing short of priceless.

Cons

As the company grows at lighting speed, I feel that we have troubles keeping up sometimes. The demands from our customers (both internal & external) are getting louder & the growth that's needed can be hard to keep up with, which can result in some heavy workloads & very long days/weeks. There is so much Koala wants to achieve in so many areas beyond just another online retail store as well & again, while this is commendable, the responsibility tends to fall on the same people.
