Pros

For someone who enjoys time alone and isolated then this would be perfect. It's good experience to walk away having. Works with schedule well.

Cons

The managers claim the motto is "yes we can", being that we can almost always accommodate the customer however every manager said conflicting things when it came to honoring expired coupons and pricing issues making it nearly impossible for an associate to function without constant assistance. Not only that but the training given was devastatingly minimal. I went in for my first day and was given the Home&Kids department, which covers 2/3 of the store, on my own with no directions as to what I should be working on. I was a seasonal staff member who came in adoring the service and products with which Kohl's provided and following the holidays still had shifts. As for the associates themselves, they were incredibily "clique -y " with the vibe of high school. Many were petty and unwilling to aid new comers.

Better for just short term

Pros

Decent discount. Employees are friendly. Customers that I have helped are nice. Reasonable place to work temporary.

Cons

Under constant pressure to open store cards. Distributes hours unfairly. They are given to those favored more. No full time available only part time. Pay is minimum wage for all the work they want you to do. Very long hours. Especially during holidays. Store hours are long even when not in holiday season. Some of the management is unfair. The issues are not with the company but the people in the store. Constantly cutting hours. Someone can not live off of the pay and hours given. Truly not worth the headache. Better place to shop than work.

Low pay

Pros

Nice Co-workers, very friendly to me. I worked there while in college and they were flexible with my school schedule

Cons

Low pay, too much work, poor compensation, worse than Wal Mart. One year I got a 10 cent raise! Its almost insulting. Also, they don't allow overtime and a full time job is not really full time, its 36 hours a week. Kohl's is an awful place to work. They do not care about their employees. They want you to do everything yet recieve such little pay. Stay away, there are better retail companies to work for.
