As a field nurse you have flexibility in setting your schedule each day. Don't have to interact with coworkers too often.
Cons
Being on call, having to take after hours calls/visits/admissions. The directors/executives primary focus is of course making money despite what it does for patients or workers. If you do your job correctly you are easily working over 10 hours a day 5 days a week plus being on call during the weekday or weekend. Pay is by visit so depending on visit type some weeks you make good money other weeks not so good unless you pick up extra visits. The company got from under TJC, which was a mistake because now they are making decisions & policies that are money based not best practice/evidence based. The benefits and PTO are terrible. No room for growth, they always hire outside people instead of current employees for positions. Whenever we have meetings it's focused on what the employees need to do in order for the company to make more money. No educational opportunities or trainings are offered. Field RNs are responsible for things that go beyond nursing skills such as patient's insurance info, ordering supplies, following up throughput the week with doctor offices, hr info; things that other companies have other staff for. The job can be dangerous because of the patient's location, Mental status, family environment or pets attack staff often.
