Pros

No shortage of good, motivated coworkers. HQ facilities are nice.

Cons

Decision-making is broken. Even relatively small decisions are pushed up two levels or more than they should be, meaning those closest to the business spend their time rationalizing and explaining the need for such and such decision, rather than being able to decide and execute and evaluate. In the absence of winning marketplace strategies, we’ve been chasing every management fad to its predictable dead end: zero-based budgeting, open environment office, looking to high-priced consultants for answers.

Pros

There are no pros to working for this company.

Cons

The management only cares about money. Executive leadership is on a mission to reduce costs at all costs. There is absolutely no communication down the chain. Work is silo'd to the extreme to the point of constant bickering between groups. Management routinely lies to employees. Inefficiencies are everywhere and they are accepted. Case in point; they do not keep stock of spare equipment. Everything must be ordered. If a users computer dies, too bad. It is not uncommon to wait a week or two before receiving a replacement. Company acquisitions and mergers are shotgunned with little to no planning involved.

Pros

Working with individuals at the local cooperatives - they remember the values of a cooperative system.

Cons

Although they claim to be EEOC compliant, there is always someone in line for the advancement when internal employees apply for positions. They do not have succession planning and very little to advance current staff and prefer to recruit from Target, Pillsbury, General Mills and other corporate giants rather than remaining true to the whole premise it was built upon. HR representatives are focused on their relationship with the business partners, and put the employee needs at the bottom of the list. This causes a huge lack of trust in the system as evidenced by the employee engagement surveys.
