Lenscrafters hates optics

Pros

Tenured opticians and techs are good people Possibility to get licensed Possibility to learn lab operations

Cons

Do you like training a manager that gets paid more than you? Do you like to get talked down too by a GM & upper management? Do you like not having a lunch break? Do you want to work with people that don't understand lenses?, even though the company is called LENScrafters. Well this is the place for you!! Management arrives late, leaves early, and calls off whenever they feel like. Associates and opticians must have good attendance though. Be prepared for constant schedule changes. The company will cut hours on top of this, exacerbating the situation. The lab bends over backwards for retail, but retail doesn't have to help. Lab staff is responsible for the entire lab (a lot), plus has a retail keys, does payroll, store closing, deposits, alarm, safe, sales floor cleaning / maintenance, and so on. You will do your GMs job for little pay and no insurance. Only tenured employees from long ago and management have good benefits. Having a license doesn't guarantee that much at LC. Neither does good attendance or being a good worker. It doesn't matter how good you are here. Luxottica is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to retail. Their image is all smoke and mirrors. They are even worse than Walmart. You will get lied to during the interview, and it is sad seeing new happy employees start to wake up and realize that they got played big time. It sucked seeing people developing, but then leave because of the horrible management. Luxottica expects everything from you, but don't expect anything from Luxottica.

Not what it used to be

Pros

In my experience the atmosphere has always been great. The team in your store is like a family. Lenscrafters also gives you the tools to succeed.

Cons

Pay isn't great, tough to get compensation for good work. Hours always seem to be tight, which makes it difficult to hire quality candidates.
