Pros

I made good money and the benefits were decent across restaurants, particularly during the off season.

Cons

The culture between restaurants is consistent. I hear the same old story from every employee from every lettuce restaurant. Any and all benefits you receive are not worth the sacrifice of work/life balance you with endure. 50 hour weeks are practically a given, not to mention impractical scheduling within that week that’ll have you working 32 hours in a 48 hour period with little downtime during a shift. For many of us who work in the industry as a means of making ends meet while we pursue other interests, lettuce is an impractical food industry job that demands unrealistic commitment. Overall, I have a hard time figuring anyone can happily work in the company’s restaurants, let alone popular brands whose interest in maintaining high volume greatly supersedes employee satisfaction.

Pros

50% employee discount as well as 20% discount for all LEY restaurants, good food, paid above minimum wage, great tips if you're a server/bartender. Mangers were usually understanding and fun to be around, and they made sure everyone got a break most of the time if they were working a double. Cool coworkers. Good health benefits and paid vacation for full time/senior employees.

Cons

Hostile work environment; very cutthroat. Senior servers are rude towards managers, hosts, and new servers. GM had emotional/anger issues and micro-managed, would frequently belittle and/or frighten staff. High turnover rate, we were constantly understaffed. Miscommunication between management and staff. Constant screw up's with seating/rotation courtesy of the GM, who was often just as rude to customers as staff; made it clear that this particular LEY establishment was only about making money. No room for growth. Hours were inconstant. Would often either have too many host's on at once, or not enough. Host's get paid about $2 less an hour than at other restaurants.
