Pros

Generally nice people, free snacks, and lunch on Wednesdays If you are in the right department, there can be a strong sense of team

Cons

Levelset makes you believe that they will do anything for you. They made it about 2 weeks into COVID before they laid off about 50% of sales staff. They set expectations that they would bring back sales employees after a few months only to bring on completely new people. -Leads are not good - The sales energy is pretty abrasive and annoying - The pay is not competitive - They lack any sort of diversity - Sales managers have a complex about themselves

Pros

I am usually not one for writing negative reviews of former employers, but feel strongly obligated to fairly inform others considering Levelset after reading the obviously fake positive reviews below. First the pros: - CEO Scott Wolfe is a great guy and genuinely wants the best for his employees - You get to work at what is arguably ranked one of the top startups in New Orleans - Many young people from all around the country, and some are very motivated

Cons

My cons are related specifically to my experience as an AE. If you are considering a position in another department, you may have a much better experience. Here are the negatives of working on the Levelset sales team: - You need to socially fit-in to have job security. While they say they let people go for poor performance, I was at the company long enough to see that it had little to do with who they actually retain. - Churn and burn. They hire and fire people very quickly, often before allowing for a fair amount of time to prove yourself. - You don’t learn sales. You are a telemarketer cold-calling random small businesses and individuals that have never heard of you. Coaching includes being told to say “platform” instead of “service” or “tool” instead of “product”. - I was lied to during my interview about salary OTE. You can make $55k+ only if you close an absurdly high amount of sales, which is hard with poor leads. - The value of each sale is so low that you need to close frequently to earn a decent salary. In software, there are no opportunities for repeat business. - Management is never truly candid about the financial state of the company. One day, I went to two meetings - in the morning we were told we were thriving, and in the afternoon was told we were way behind for the quarter. Every company, on some level, has bogus you have to tolerate. In the case of Levelset, you will never truly know where you stand despite your performance indicators. Management is very young and decisions can be questionable. Very few people do sales for enjoyment. In construction software, where prices are low and margins even smaller, you will need to consistently hunt for new business on a daily basis and make 50+ calls a day, with no chances at getting repeat business due to the subscription nature. If you want to make solid money, choose a different sales field.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your experience at Levelset. We don’t receive unsatisfactory reviews often, so it is disappointing when someone hasn’t had the best experience working with us. We are always making progress, and we genuinely appreciate the feedback. I do have to disagree with parts of your review respectfully. We pride ourselves in hiring a diverse workforce and care about everyone within our organization. We are transparent from the beginning regarding our environment, and we understand this organization is not for everyone. Levelset is a high growth company, so we have to hit aggressive targets, and it’s challenging. Unfortunately, there are times when we hire people who end up not working out. As the Director of People Operations, I am involved in all organization terminations, and I can assure you a lot of thought goes into these decisions, and they are never easy. Before any member of our sales team is let go, they have the chance to improve their performance, and our sales managers do everything they can to help these team members during this time and reach their sales quota. You stated you were lied to during your interview about salary OTE, but I have to disagree. We are very clear throughout our interview process regarding salary, OTE, and ramp time. Where we understand it takes time to ramp and get accustomed to our customer base, many of our Account Executives have routinely shown the ability to not only meet their quota but to exceed it. I am proud to say our sales team just concluded their most successful quarter to date and they broke all of their existing monthly, daily and quarterly records. Finally, at Levelset, we rely on transparency and open communication to foster our strong culture. Yes, we move incredibly fast here, and things can change quickly. These changes are undoubtedly part of the challenging environment, but we communicate these changes to the team. We discuss our financials at our monthly all-hands company sync, our CEO sends out monthly communication to all employees, and all meetings at Levelset are open. Any employee can sit in on any meeting, including executive meetings and even board meetings. If there is ever any confusion about department goals, targets, company financials, or anything else related to our business, anyone can simply ask the question at any time. We try to create a professional experience at Levelset that is special, and we are genuinely disappointed when people are not happy with their time spent here. We know we aren’t perfect, but we focus on doing the right thing, and we are always growing and learning. We appreciate the feedback, and if there is anything else you would like to share or if you would like to discuss any of your issues further, please do not hesitate to contact me jami@levelset.com

Pros

The work/life balance is strong relative to other cities (though maybe not to New Orleans), the culture is positive, and there are many opportunities to take initiative, be recognized, and be compensated accordingly. It's an exciting, challenging, and rewarding environment to work in. It's mostly young people and we're friends outside of work. The benefits are fantastic.

Cons

Many of the leaders are young and it's their first time building a company like this, which is not necessarily a con, but it may not be for everyone.
