Un-iconic HR organization!!

Pros

Great benefits and decent salary

Cons

Toxic culture in HR, leadership with no direction or follow through, social media portrays a picture that doesn’t actually exist. All the excitement to be hired by such an iconic brand wore off quickly as this job turned into a nightmare. It was sad to see how little the leadership did for their team. They talked a lot of ideals that didn’t exist, including promoting/hiring only based on diversity & people they knew and not experience. All the work completed by the team was credited inappropriately to people in leadership. Many leaders promoted themselves shamelessly without any regard for supporting their subordinates. Picking favorites and the rest are blaming the rest for their weaknesses. Poor leadership and lack of ethics are common place. The HR organization is super toxic as they make fun of their employees and try to make everyone’s existence difficult. Many such examples are found in the HR, roles. One person actually bragged about firing employees and how she likes it. Beware this place will not support or nurture you! Instead it will demand things of you that are not reasonable or ethical.

Pros

Fashion is fun and there are some fun events.

Cons

They treat people like dirt. Work them long hours with no compensation and they could care less if you work there or not. They are constantly going through a company reorg (since 1999 with the same company actually). I saw 3 reorgs in less than two years and had 11 different bosses because of it. VP's in the merchandising department abuse their corporate card like no other. Shadiest stuff I have ever seen. They don't give you any feedback and then your yearly review comes around they say you haven't "met your goals". When you ask what those goals are and when they were every communicated to you they have no answer. Each VP gets a pool of money to farm our to their whole team for raises and they just pick their favorites and screw everyone else over. It has nothing to do with performance, only who is your friend. So much sexual harrasment going on at this place,... and sex. There is a public case about it you can look up online. DO NOT WORK HERE. They are a "lifestyle brand" that is FAILING. Their market share has been dropping and fast. They cannot keep up with fast fashion. They have shady sourcing and marketing practices. They lie to their consumers.

Pros

Ownership of line, the Designer left it up to me to really put forth a seasonal line that was driven by my own vision. Benefits Company that comes with a great history that you are proud to be investing in future history.

Cons

Politics and playing the game to try and get ahead Advancement is a joke, years went by and it was clear that you would not get a promotion unless your boss was fired, died or the org chart expanded. And after years of re-orgs there was no hope that promotion was possible. This is a leave and re enter type of workplace if you aren't good at playing the corporate game and at looking for advancement.
